Why tell Women CEO stories?

The act of telling someone’s story is probably as important for the story's owner as it is for those that will hear it. This is because in the act of hearing your own story, you can begin to reflect and observe your path from a third party point of view, which allows for a much clearer understanding of, and often growth from, that new knowledge.
Humans also do best in a community, and in hearing how others have travelled through this life, they can see themselves and realise they are not alone. That there are other people, hundreds if not thousands, who have experienced what they’ve experienced. That they are not an outsider or wrong in some way, but are in fact part of the human race and community by having those same experiences.
When we begin to believe we are the only person to feel a certain way or take certain actions, we create for ourselves a chamber of isolation away from the rest of the world, away from community. This is a very lonely place, but through storytelling, we can break down the walls of those chambers and embrace one another, to finally heal and find contentment in this life.
Why CEOs? And Why Focus on Women?
As an entrepreneur, I’ve met so many incredible people and heard a lot of stories, and I’ve found that the CEO and founder story is always driven by passion and a need to solve a problem in the world. This this something I relate to very deeply, and I believe others will as well. CEO Founders in particular have had to walk a long and difficult road to get where they are, often including a deep and life-changing personal development journey. It is this journey which I find the most fascinating, paired with how they used that to build a business which is now changing so many lives.
There is also still a glass ceiling in the world of business, one which many women struggle to break. Specifically the C-Suite and particularly the role of CEO. There has in recent years been a huge movement with more and more women founders building and stepping into the role of CEO, leading great change and success to and in businesses. These are the stories which ignite my own passion for storytelling, and I want to support the sharing of these stories, to both help other women who might have an idea but lack the confidence to move forward with it, or simply for the CEO Women themselves, to help them see just how much they’ve accomplished and can still do.
The Time is NOW
Why it’s so important now is because I don’t want them to wait till they feel like they earnt ‘the right’ to tell their story. That could be a very long time away, especially for a lot of women who feel they can’t tell the story of their journey until it’s complete, or they’ve achieved something great, not knowing they already have. They can also miss a golden storytelling opportunity if they go too far without doing so, because it creates too much time distance between those they wish to inspire and themselves. Each stage of their journey needs to be documented, whether it’s through a book, blogs or being a podcast guest, the time to act is now, so those lessons and experiences can be captured and share to the right people at the right time. Matching story for story, and igniting confidence, as well as connection to those that read it.
And that’s what my mission is, and the mission of CEO Stories Media. To draw out, share and amplify these untold women CEO stories to inspire others to start their path to becoming a CEO, as well as help CEOs reflect and embrace their story to move forward in their life and business. Finally, I believe this work aligns with helping the world to become a more balanced and equal world for all.
